What our customers say about their holidays

Overall very happy with our stay in this cottage.
The secludedness, peace tranquility, fantastic views and location of the cottage far outweigh any of the following, which I hope to be constructive criticism. Cottage would benefit from with a little updating and massive spring clean. It's only a 3 star so did not expect luxury but parts of it could've been cleaner, alot of cobwebs in kitchen corners, doorways, windows, edges of windows particularly velux in top bedroom which still had cracked glass with tape over. All that aside it was very well equipped (again some grubby utensils which we had to wash before use) with everything we needed in THE HEATWAVE week we were there. Couldn't get any hot water from kitchen tap or bathroom tap (luckily shower ok) so false economy as had to boil kettle to wash up. Bit too remote for us, long single track driveway tricky but did match description so we knew this. Again all this aside the positives are we had a great holiday stay, there were only 2 of us, ok for 4 but think would be a struggle with 6.

Overall we liked our stay in Woodloft Cottage and may stay there again in the future.
That said, when we arrived we were unpleasantly surprised by the amount of cobwebs along the ceiling throughout the house and especially in the bathroom. We also found a lot of kitchen utensils in the drawers that were not properly cleaned. Additionally, the ceiling is rather low for two very average Dutch people (approx. 1.81m tall), but this never really posed a serious problem after we got used to it. I did bump my head a few times on the low beams though. The cottage is very cosy and well-furnished. The kitchen and living room are well-equipped and the bed was fine. We did occasionally hear some noise from upstairs as others have pointed out, but this was comparable to the noise we sometimes hear from our upstairs neighbour in our own flat. Perhaps previous guests had the misfortune of having very noisy upstairs neighbours or the privilege of not living in a flat. All in all, we liked our stay in Woodloft Cottage and would recommend it to others.

An excellent and well laid-out cottage in what must be one of the most beautiful areas of the Lakes. It was interesting waking up to sheep on the front lawn most days! We had to be careful letting our dog out for his constitution, the only downside of not having a separated garden. Most conveniences provided, we cooked a few nights with no problems at all. Lovely soft water. Good, comfortable beds, I slept for England! Comfortable settees too, for when it was too wet to go out (which happens here a lot apparently!). Residential neighbours on one side who were friendly and welcoming (most of the row are rentals). Only a short 10 mins drive to Ambleside for plenty to do if walking isn't your thing (though why come to the Lakes then?). Shame the weather wasn't better, but can't be helped. One of the few cottages I've visited that I would DEFINATELY come back to. The local shop was useful.

On Wednesday morning, we were advised by the owner of number 1 that there was a water supply problem into the holding tank.
We were advised not to use the shower or bath and fill containers with water. On Thursday morning, we were unable to have a shower or bath. I messaged you by Whatsapp on Thursday afternoon to advise you of this. On Friday, there was no hot water at all so we were forced to have cold showers. I messaged you repeatedly on Whatsapp but did not get a single meaningful response to indicate that you were following this up. I phoned you on Friday afternoon after eventually being able to get a phone signal, and you advised that a separate team receive these messages. As I said to you, is there no communication between teams? It is utterly brainless and from a customer service perspective, very very poor. I would like to be compensated for this - either as an ex gratia payment or a complementary voucher towards a future stay. I expect you to extend the courtesy of a reply to this message.

The location is lovely and has plenty of walks straight from the property.
We would stay again .Property was a little tired, cutlery , crockery and pans could do with replacing , curtain in lounge hanging off hook , one light bulb needs replacing in the lounge , bath panel cracked on corner . Otherwise comfortable as you would expect from a old cottage . The step coming out of the rooms a little dangerous, my 3 year old Grandson came out of the bathroom with his mum missed the step and came down the stairs like a rag doll . Luckily he bounced and did not sustain any injuries. If anyone is going to stay make sure you take water with you for drinking, cooking , brushing you teeth etc water at the cottage is not drinkable . We arrived at 5pm and needed to go into Coniston to get water . After a incredibly long journey by car from Bournemouth we just wanted a cup of tea . It would be a nice gesture to leave 2 bottles for guests on arrival day .
