What our customers say about their holidays

Yes, 'Met Expectations' but.
.. For the price (economic, ie about £100 p/n) the standard was mostly good, so no complaints there, but the 'write up' was rather 'over-the-top' - described as 'luxurious' - well not quite, eg I'd like a more comfortable bed for 'luxurious' and the 'platter of delicious local produce' consisted of a Higates flapjack made in Wasall and two Lichfields products - digestives and 'highland shorties' - from Northants. Not exactly 'local'! Didn't eat any of it - but the 'delicious may be a bit over the top too. Better to not mention them. In similar vein, the views were described as 'outstanding' - well, they were pleasant enough - a couple of fields with sheep, not exactly 'outstanding' especially in an area where there are indeed so many truly outstanding views. Strange that, although bed linen and towels were included, there was no tea towel. It was explained that this was because so many tea towels were 'stolen' by previous guests. My advice - just add £5 to the o/n price and buy in a load of Lakes tea towels and invite guests to take it away with them, if they wish, as a souvenir - compliments of the owners. One final thing - about being 'welcoming' - I did not read on the site I booked through (snaptrip.com) about not checking in before 4pm although I may have overlooked it but we did follow the advice to phone and let the owners know our ETA. Bit surprised that my wife was told to 'wait' while lady's husband was consulted before agreeing to our arrival at 3pm. When we arrived - after a 5 hour drive - at 10 minutes to 3pm, the entry gate was locked. It could have/should have been open for us - but perhaps the owners wanted to give us a message? Not the way to 'welcome' guests! By-the-by, with winter approachng and clocks going back an hour at the end of this month, if guests are not 'welcome' before 4pm, they will be arriving more or less in the dark. Surely, even with Covid ceansing, there is time from 10 am (departure time) to 3pm - 5 hours - to thoroughly clean and sanitise correctly.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautifully decorated holiday cottage.
The interior was both trendy and cosy, making it the perfect retreat. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was lovely â just what we needed to unwind after exploring the stunning surroundings. The location was ideal, easy to access yet nestled in a peaceful and picturesque area. A lovely touch was the thoughtful welcome gift of rosé prosecco and scones, which made us feel so special upon arrival. One small consideration: the cottage might not be the best fit for very tall guests. My boyfriend is 6â5â and bumped his head a few times on some of the lower beams and doorways. That said, we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the charm of the cottage well worth it! The only other minor hiccup was the Wi-Fi, we couldn't get it to work on any of our devices or the TV, but we easily resolved it by using a hotspot and I am sure this is a fixable issue we just didn't bother raising it. This didnât detract from our stay, though, as everything else was simply perfect. Annie, the host, was so friendly and accommodating, making us feel right at home. Weâd definitely love to stay again and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a cosy, stylish, and relaxing escape â just mind your head if youâre tall!

We had such a brilliant stay at Little Winder, the cottage was perfect for us and our little dog.
We enjoyed walks from the door step, (Including Athurâs Pike and Bonscale Pike) watched the red squirrels playing in the trees from the window and slept peacefully after days of hiking. The location and views from the cottages was superb. The cottage itself has a good sized entrance hall to take off your walking gear and a shared drying room next door to hang anything wet out on the heaters. The Amazon TV was great and we just logged into our Netflix in the evening or watched the free view channels from the comfy sofa. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook tea each night, there isnât a freezer on its own just a small compartment in the fridge but we only needed ice so no issue for us. The bed was big and comfortable, the shower was compact but lovely and powerful and hot. There was a secure dog field to let the dog off the lead and have a good play. The hosts were brilliant, made sure we had everything we needed and left us a welcome gift which was such a nice touch. We would definitely stay again.

Firstly when you find the place, what can only be described as offload is the only entrance in or out so be aware if you have a low car or low profile tyres.
When we got there the lodge is in garden next to a wall with residential homes directly over the wall. Inside us big enough 2 bedrooms are decent sizes. I didn't feel the place was clean enough windows are filthy with old bird poo crust in. Bathroom fan is extremely loud , the toilet seat is loose and no lock on the door. Unfortunately when we finished ironing one day the socket came straight out the wall this caused a mild shock. Another safety concern was the ramp access, this has very slim anti slip strips that have expired and when wet is very dangerous. And finally got charged £150 for paw prints and what looked like a stain spilled tea? Could have been there already.. I wouldn't recommend taking a dog for this reason and also very dangerous access road . Never stayed the full 4 nights left a day early. Very very disappointing especially after saving and now £160 taken straight off a card and into overdraft. Worse holiday ever

I really enjoyed a relaxing and comfortable stay at La'al Ling (which I now know means Little Ling).
The shepherds hut accommodation was very comfortable and clean, and beautifully decorated. It is situated within it's own private garden, where you can relax in the hot tub, and enjoy the views. The facilities available in the hut were just right, with plenty of hot water for the shower. Although you may want to get away from the trappings of modern life, having Wi-Fi available was essential to me, and it never let me down. The only thing that did let me down was my own ability to create a good fire for the hot tub. The owner, Dean, came to my rescue there, and got the temperature up to the perfect level. Dean and Jo were excellent hosts, with plenty of recommendations for places to eat, and of course Dean's fire building skills. I would definitely stay at La'al Ling again. Thanks Dean and Jo for a lovely stay.
