Reasons to Visit North Yorkshire
Beaches
Some of the best beaches in North Yorkshire are located near small towns and villages. Many of them are less busy than southern beaches. One of the largest seaside towns in North Yorkshire is Scarborough, which has two large beaches and is a traditional Victorian seaside resort. It's a splendid day at the beach with amusement arcades, grand hotels, an aquarium, and fresh fish and chips. Heading north, you'll come across another delightful beach, Robin Hood's Bay. As well as a long beach, you'll discover the pretty village on the coast, which is well worth visiting. West Cliff Beach in Whitby is next with a sandy beach, perfect for those bucket and spade days with the family. Then, only a few miles from Whitby is Sandsend Beach. This beach is similar to Whitby's but doesn't have a town; instead, it has two idyllic fishing villages, East Row and Sandsend. These are only a few beaches, but there are many more to explore on the North Yorkshire coast. Find the ideal last-minute beachside cottage for your family or friends and rent it easily using our simple booking system.
Walking
North Yorkshire has some of the finest walking routes in England. The Malham Landscape Trail in the Yorkshire Dales is a much-loved and relatively easy walk. This circular route takes you past rivers, waterfalls and limestone scenery that is quintessentially North Yorkshire. You should also try Captain Cook's Monument & Roseberry Topping loop from Great Ayrton for a North York Moors hike. This circular trail is a little more demanding. However, the challenge is worth every step, with breathtaking views over the North York Moors, especially from Captain Cook's Monument. There are many more walks to explore, so find your perfect walking base camp for your family or friends and organise your next adventure with Last Minute Cottages. You could even book one of our cottages with a hot tub to relax those muscles, ready for the next day's adventure.
