Scoresby House in Whitby is praised for its excellent location and cleanliness, with many guests appreciating the proximity to the town centre and harbour views. While some guests found the apartment comfortable and well-equipped, others noted it could benefit from updates and a deep clean. The lack of Wi-Fi and some basic amenities were mentioned, but the property's location and overall cleanliness seem to outweigh these concerns.
The property generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, though there are instances where guests reported it could be improved with a deeper clean and attention to details like kitchenware and tea cloths.
The location is highly regarded due to its proximity to the town centre, harbour views, and ease of access to Whitby's offerings. However, some guests mentioned noise from the nearby boatyard.
Guests find the apartment comfortable overall, but some have suggested that it needs a new mattress and have mentioned issues with noise. The lack of Wi-Fi also detracted from the comfort for some visitors.
The apartment is considered well-equipped by some, but others have raised concerns about maintenance issues such as the need for fresh paint, window repairs, and updates to the heating system.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.
A delightful first floor apartment situated at the far end of Church Street. With stunning harbour views. Only a short walk to the town centre amenities and local attractions. Pet friendly.
This delightful first floor apartment situated at the far end of Church Street was once the residence of Captain William Scoresby a whaler, expeditionist and inventor of the crow's nest. The property has stunning harbour views and is pet-friendly.

Mr Dixon
Stayed here over the Goth weekend and wouldn’t stay again. It’s basic, a place to sleep but not much else. Lack of basic amenities, no toilet paper, no working heating, no WiFi, toilet flush takes many tries to work, hot tap barely worked. And it’s a fair walk to the co-op to get the basic necessities that are provided by most other cottages. Other people in our party stayed in a bigger cottage near the abbey which was cheaper and they provided a welcome basket containing basics like teabags, milk etc. so I’d look elsewhere if you’re staying in Whitby. Place was also not very clean. Black mould in the shower, dirty mirrors and hair all over the floors. Knelt down in the bedroom while unpacking and was covered in what I assume was dog hair. Also if you bring a pet, check under the wardrobe in the bedroom as there’s loads of dog toys stuck under there too. Located on a noisy street which can’t be helped but expect to be woken up by the boat yard opposite at 6am and you will hear every person who walks past through the night as the windows are single glazed. Minus the mould the shower is good though, very powerful. Overall, for the price there’s a lot better places to stay in Whitby so I would look elsewhere.

As usual we enjoyed our holiday at Scoresby House, the position is great but it is looking a little tired and needs a new mattress! Traffic noise and noise from the boatyard can be a problem but otherwise everything is good.

Terrible unclean needs updating can't open windows if you do you have to wedge with something. When windows are open the noise from the shipping yard you are directly across from is unbearable. Spent as little time as possible in the property . Cleaned it myself best I could but needed a real deep clean , every pot and glass were dirty in dirty cupboards I could go on and on .
