What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Jennifer Allan - Verified booking
We spent a weekend at Woodland Nook, White Cross Bay with my Son, Daughter-in-law and Grandson.
The place itself is just a glorified caravan and there is absolutely no privacy. We had to wash every glass and every piece of crockery we got out of the cupboards as obviously the people before us did not do this neither it seems did the cleaner. There was no mat to place in the bath which made having a shower in there very slippery. I fell and badly bruised my leg and banged my head on the wall. The lodge is situated quite close to the main road into the site and you could hear traffic noise day and night. But by far the worst thing for us was Friday and Saturday nights were ruined by the unbelievably noisy parties being held in a lodge at the back of Woodland Nook until well gone 10.00 pm. We were babysitting on the Saturday night whilst my Son & Daughter-in-law went to a wedding and after only an hour in bed my Grandson was woken up by the noise. My family left on the Sunday as they had work the next day but we stayed on until Monday. I took a pair of sheets and pillow slips with me to change the double bed on the Sunday night as we had slept in the single beds. Unfortunately I left this bedding In the bedroom. I stripped all the beds for the cleaner and my sheets were neatly folded in a pile ready for me to pack. When I realised that I'd left them I contacted the office and was told they would get in touch with the cleaning company who would email me. I'm still waiting for them to contact me. The cleaner should have realised there were more sheets than there should have been. Clearly not very trustworthy. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Going into Windermere What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Pool

The lodge itself is dated but cosy and ideal for exploring the lakes.
It's well located for facilities on site. Parking is good. Check in was seamless. However, inside the lodge I feel like it was only surface clean, when trying to get the WiFi to work I found thick balls of fur beneath a unit that really was easy to reach with the hoover. I hoovered it myself and have to say the hoover works well. The sofa cushions were covered in fur from previous guest. Beneath the beds and in corners was dusty with bits and in need of a good clean, cupboard and drawers needed dusting before we could put our clothes in. The bedding however was clean and couldn't be faulted. In the kitchen, the pans, utensils etc all needed washing and the cutlery holder on the drying rack was full of mould. Overall the lodge is lovely, but is in need of a deep clean. There was an owner in a nearby lodge that appeared to be complaining of the cleaning service provided, and it's possible the owner of Little Nook relies on the same cleaning company. The WiFi is non existent and there is no signal so you have no access to anything whilst there, that's not a complaint really just an observation. I noticed the ethernet cable going into the router was all frayed so possibly replacing the cable would repair the WiFi otherwise it seems a waste the owners paying for it if the technology to make it work aren't there.

We had a great stay at the old laundry, one of 3 cottages in this small complex that we visit regularly.
However, upon arrival the cottage was not as clean as I would expect in this day and age. Clearly the previous guests had a dog ( and would have been charged extra, usually £30 for what the holiday letting company call extra cleaning !!! ) the sofa, cushions and rug were full of dog hair, the glass on the front door full of dirty muddy marks. We also found a pair of walking socks behind the radiator covered in dog hairs/cobwebs. If you looked up every corner of the cottage had a spider residing in it. The place just did not feel clean. The 1st bedroom had 1 toilet roll and the second had just 8 sheets left on an old roll it also had no hand-wash, no kitchen towel and once the kitchen bin was full we had to go and buy more bin liners because there were none in the cottage. If this was a cheap holiday cottage then I may expect to have to ruff it a bit but this was almost £1,500 originally and we booked it when it was reduced, but we still paid £1,000 for the week. Am I expecting too much? Would I stay there again, probably but only if the other 2 cottages were booked up. Somewhat disappointed.

We enjoyed a lovely two week stay at Woodland Nook with our two teenage boys and two dogs.
The lodge is in a lovely quiet location on the park and close to the main facilities. The site is very dog friendly and the location on the lake shore is stunning. The lodge itself is nicely decorated and has good facilities, as well as a gated veranda, which was great for the dogs. The lodge and furnishings were clean and comfortable. The kitchen is a little bit cramped, but was adequate for our needs. The front door has a handle missing on the outside, this meant that it was easy to lock yourself out and needs addressing. The water pressure drops so much on Mondays and Fridays that it is insufficient for a shower. The in lodge wi-fi is not connected to the internet. The site wifi is available sporadically, and not in the lodge or the bar/restaurant, which was a bit difficult, given that you have to use an app to order food and drinks. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would come back to the holiday park and that particular lodge.

This was our first experience taking our nervous young cockapoo away for a short break.
We could not have been more pleased with the location of Woodland Nook Lodge on the site. It was at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac and the veranda was totally fenced off. The whole experience was relaxed and the booking process was very smooth. The lodge itself was very clean and tastefully decorated. After long hill walks the added bonus of having a bath was bliss. The instructions regarding heating etc were easy to follow. Lake District Lodge Holidays kept us well informed by email and there were contact numbers if we had a problem (which we did not). What did you enjoy most about your stay? The comfortable and clean accommodation which was lovely and warm with every item provided for a self catering break. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? The walk via Troutbeck over Wansfell Pike and down into Ambleside is a lovely walk
