What our customers say about their holidays
Lynn - Verified booking
Good Morning I have just returned home after spending 3 nights in your cottage.
The cottage itself is beautiful, however I was thoroughly disappointed at our inability to access the internet or watch television. We did speak to the people from your Ambleside office who sent out the maintenance team, they were unable to connect the internet as they said it had been cut off from outside somewhere. They then reported this to their manager who said they would contact the owner and get back to us. As yet, Iâm still waiting on a return call to the only phone that could pick up a signal as the rest of us were relying on internet as two of us were visiting from Canada. My husband was supposed to be working from home and was unable to do so. We also reported a bleeping noise that went off every five minutes and kept us awake, the maintenance crew couldnât find where the noise was coming from so disconnected the âflood system â, this didnât rectify the problem as the bleeping still continued. I would like to suggest that the welcome pack is put on the worktop as it was in the bottom drawer and we didnât find it until yesterday. Also it would be a good idea to have instructions on how to operate the washer/dryer and cooker. We could only get the oven to work. I was really disappointed as I feel I paid over £700 for 3 days and expected everything to be in working order. These are things I feel should be checked before every new arrival. Regards Lynn Crawford

Lovely house and lovely area.
We arrived on the Monday we had that sigh of relief you have when you arrive at a strange location youâve booked online, when you drive through the local area. Town of Penrith was on the door step and the villlage the house is located is somewhere you can walk through at night without fear. Virtually crime free. The house is located next to the river which gave a nice relaxing sound when you sleep. No need for Alexa to play relaxing sounds! The house is beautiful. We brought everything we need from tea towels to Salt and pepper but there is no need as the owners had stocked the house with all the essentials, even a welcome basket. Kitchen is a huge cooking and social area with a kitchen island and massive fridge/freezer. To our delight, we forgot to bring ice however the fridge dispenser had an ice option ( took the heat off me!). Living room comfy with electric fire place and the bedrooms where well set up with plenty of places for guests. The garden is fully sealed in for the dog to run around with no worries. We had a brilliant week at Mill end house. Top tip, try the crown pub in the village. Michael the landlord is a great character and does a mixture of English and Thai food. My only negative ( and this negative is only small) the pillows were a little bulky and hard. We would book again and bring those with us.

Turning up on the first night in the dark to no signage on the gate itself wasn't very helpful, it was only sign posted from 1 direction on the road, having never been before and In pitch black we wasn't sure where to go.
Definitely a sign on the main gate would be helpful. The front room was cold, 2 fan heaters had been left however 1 fan doesn't work the other only blows cold air, we spent the evenings with blankets on the sofas. I could only imagine how cold it would actually be given the temperatures outside plumited. No way of changing the heating temperature either. The heating wasn't the only boiler issue, with only 2 of us here even after running one bath the hot water runs out and you have to wait for the full system to top back up. Not ideal as this took a couple of hours too. Also the main bathroom with the bath only had frosted glass windows looking onto the car park. No blinds, when the bath is straight opposite the window this definitely needs a blind. Beeping noise coming from the second bathroom, having looked at previous reviews this issue had been raised before and yet not fixed? In the main bedroom there was a lovely beemd fireplace with such potential however it was just filled with all WiFi boxes which on a night lit up the room. I imagine in summer sat out around the back with the view would be quiet nice, however we got the impression it had been rushed with not much thought or consideration gone into. Shame for such a lovely area

The property was very clean and well equipped.
The heating was a problem , far too cold in the sitting room and problems with all the TV sets and internet . Whilst I appreciate the isolation of the property , there was no signal connecting Sky handset and box through the Sky remote . The office were very efficient in sending maintenance out twice bringing a convector heater and trying to sort out TVâs having visited to do this on the Monday and again on the Wednesday , I had to call the office again on the Friday regarding TVs , although declining a 3rd visit we were not desperate for a TV to watch on our last night but wanted to allow for issues to be sorted for following holiday makers . I would suggest the owners spend time sorting out the TVâs and internet , upgrading the equipment . Having 3 phone calls and 2 visits for the same ongoing issues in less than a week must be expensive calling out a maintenance team and frustrating for office staff who can only best play the hand they are dealt . Whilst the listing of three TVâ seems impressive the realisation that not even one TV worked for the week was both disappointing and frustrating The service from the office was exemplary .

Hi, firstly we would like to say what a wonderful location the apartment is in!
We found a number of broken/chipped items which should have been picked up before we stayed. There were no instructions for the oven, thankfully we managed to search the internet. Again this should have been checked before we arrived. We feel you need to improve your customer service. I phoned on two separate days (Monday and Tuesday as your office was shut over the weekend) to say we were unable to get onto the wifi. It would have been nice if someone had followed up to see if we had resolved the issue. It was disappointing that we could not use the TV's in the bedrooms. We also reported that it looked like there should have been a Sky box in the master bedroom. Your maintenance team reported back to you that they agreed following a visit to look at the wifi issues. Again we should have received a call with an update. We managed to set the fire alarm off, when I phoned I was surprised that the lady who answered didn't have a full inventory of the apartment, or know how to turn it off. In the end I phoned three times. We appreciate that the building is quite old, but there appears to be damp on the walls in the fireplace in the master bedroom.
