What our customers say about their holidays

Good stay, lovely location, could do with a little TLC before it starts to deteriorate.
On unpacking I noticed the kitchen had lots of crockery and utensils, although I had brought things from home this was a bonus due to cooking Christmas dinner. Appliances in the kitchen worked good(fridge/freezer is on the small side), the washer is a bit hit and miss I had to change the program over to spin and rinse a few times because it went on for hours. The cooker and hobs are great. Plenty of plugs in each room and switches for lights etc. The patio doors didn't open and I reported this but I'm still waiting for someone to get back to me..... The place warms up quickly and the showers both work well. There was mold around the bottom of the ensuite shower which needs redoing but other than that the bathrooms are nice enough. The beds are comfy and bedding were all clean. There was a hoover and they even left dishwasher tablets and a few cloths and t-towels. There was a power cut on site on Christmas Eve but was quickly sorted out. The WiFi was very strong, this could have been the time of year and the camp being quiet, we had an issue on the first night but just reset the modem and it worked fine throughout our stay. The surrounding area is beautiful and well worth an explore. The park has a beck that runs aside it and during the summer this would be a lovely setting as there are picnic benches and plenty of areas to explore. None of the facilities were open during our stay but we didn't need them. The decor is OK, few scuffs and shows of wear and tear, the lino in the kitchen is bumpy and the carpet is a little old but overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

First impressions were good, but sadly thatâs where it ended.
It would be a good idea to wash the bedding and towels in a non-bio, non-perfumed detergent as I spent my entire stay itching as soon as I got into bed, so didnât sleep during my time there. The bedding also needs changing, when I stripped the bed upon departure as requested, there were many questionable stains on the duvet and mattress protector. The sofa and armchair also need replacing, as theyâre old and now uncomfortable. This meant, there was no comfortable place for me to sit or sleep, which was far from ideal. The whole place needed a deep clean e.g. there was still curry split from the last occupant in the microwave and their hair in the bathroom. The flat is on the top floor, up 2 steep flights of stairs, so think about how much you bring with you. The lack of parking and the one way system is also something you should consider. Leave yourself a minimum of half an hour to walk back to your car and navigate this system on the day youâre checking out. Also, although the location is great in the day, who knew at night Kendal âcomes to life.â From around 10pm-1am the Tesco Extra opposite becomes the hangout spot and thereâs a lot of shouting, so pack earplugs! Also, pack an eye mask as the blinds donât fit well either. There is no reception, only an emergency contact number. As none of the above constitutes an emergency, I had no one I could contact about these matters. Sadly this was not the restorative trip Iâd hoped it would be.

We had such a lovely 4 day stay here, upon booking via the Original Cottages website I asked on the special requests if they could do anything to make it special as it was my partners birthday, there was a birthday card with a bottle of prosecco and little bottle of local gin with glasses ready for us on arrival which was so lovely of them! The property was spotless and had all the utensils we needed to cook our meals as being self-catering during this pandemic was important. The outside seating area is lovely to enjoy the last bit of sunshine in the evening and the bed was really comfy too which is always needed after a long day out walking. We could not have picked a better property to stay in and the location was great too, we travelled to lots of different areas from where we was staying and it was initially easy to find upon arrival on the directions provided. Also the car was parked right outside the door so it was easy for us to carry our belongings in and knowing we had a allocated parking space. Highly recommend this to anyone who is considering staying in the Lake District. Amazing weekend!

We would stay at Limefitt again, this was our second time but this lodge was a disappointment.
Hopefully the boiler will have been sorted out, we had to reset it every morning to get hot water and have the heating on. There is a washer dryer but even with the instruction leaflet we couldnât get the drying part to work which is probably why the blurb says it has a washing machine. The dishwasher needs salt and rinse aid, but we were surprised that these were not provided, totally get you have to bring dish washer tablets from home. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, pans etc. Spare bin bags were not left so take more of those. Be careful with the bank of switches on the kitchen wall, the switch for the fridge freezer is there and it is easy to switch it off in error. If you do need to call LDH, they are good at arranging for wardens, engineers to visit, the out of hours number given to us on the email we received was for the warden at Whitecross Bay, no doubt this was a computer error when Skyes Cottages merged with LDH. The best thing about this lodge is that there is tool kit is the bottom drawer!

The property's location was perfect for me and also dog friendly too.
So peaceful (silence and no light poution), beautiful views, and not too far from a couple of pubs and the village of Hawkshead. The field adjoining the property was perfect to let my dog Minnie, have a safe run around. I stopped in the Coniston accommodation which was perfect for me, very clean and very comfortable. I had previously read reviews that highlighted that you could hear some noise from the flat above but i accepted that risk when I booked. My lived experience was that during the first 4 days (of my 6 day stay) I heard very little. My last 2 nights was slightly more challenging though. Dont get me wrong, I didn't feel like I had part of the Riverdance dance troop staying above me but the level of noise did increase. Im not sure what the owners can do, other than let the flat above be very aware that not wearing clogs would be more than appreciated by those downstairs. I would advise that if you are easily irritated by any noise from above, then the Coniston isnt for you. I will be going back for sure.
