What our customers say about their holidays

I couldnt fault the apartment at all, it was beautiful, very modern and spotless.
The shower is amazing. It has everything you would need, including, lovely thick fluffy towels, nespresso, washing machine&dryer(even some washing pods), ironing board &iron, dishwasher(although i never use them) hoover, every cleaning product you'd need, loo roll, hand wash, tea towels etc. I had taken a lot of these but came home with them. Lovely little touch of bottles of water,biscuits,teas/coffee,pods were very much appreciated, thank you. Gorgeous surroundings out front, patio area, grass with benches in front of the lovely river Leven.Amazing views from the living room window. lovely pubs 5 mins walk, The Swan & The Huntsman, lovely nice food in both and so friendly, Great position to drive anywhere in the Lakes. Nearest shops 10 mins to Ulverston,Booths is a lovely supermarket, fab pet shop with such friendly staff willing to give you advice on where to visit. The only thing we had abit of an issue with was the people in the apartment above us. We could hear every step they made, Im not sure if they wer exceptionally heavy footed buyt it soundeed like sosmeone was running a marathon in gthe style of an elephant . I did bring this to their attention in the nicest possible way, but was met with a lack of understanding and rudeness. I know you will hear each other and thats fine but they took the mickey. Hopefully this was just this family. Other than that blip we had an amazing time and would highly recommend Lakeside Hideaway.

Unfortunately I have a very mixed review for this property.
I will start with the positives. Fantastic rural location, clean bed linen and towels. Plenty of towels (we didnât use all of them). Extremely comfortable beds and pillows. Negatives - When I arrive at a holiday rental, my expectations are for it to be clean and plenty of space for me to put my things, downstairs every drawer seemed to be crammed full of bits and bobs of no particular relevance with no particular order. The house was grimy, dusty and cluttered. As soon as we arrived, I was cleaning crockery and utensils that had old crusted food on them. Door handles on kitchen cupboards were sticky, the microwave buttons had food still on them and inside it was dirty. My husband found grim and dead insects in the kitchen cupboards. Work surfaces and tables were sticky. The dishwasher was not maintained as this became obvious as the week progressed. It didnât clean the dishes very well and by no means did we over fill it. It was also a slimline, which was not adequate for the size of the property. There was also donkey stables on the end of the row of houses, which meant we were getting woken at different times of the night. This property could really do with a de-clutter, and a really good clean. It was a shame really, as I wasnât expecting to be cleaning a property as soon as I arrived. There is much more I could say but I feel I have said enough, needless to say, sadly, we wonât be returning.

It is very clear that the owners care with the little touches around the lodge from the robin on the kitchen blind to a wide selection of books.
However the lodge is well loved and needs some tweaks. From reading other reviews the sofa with no legs has been that way since at least June and we visited at the end of October. It did make it unusable for us as we are in our 50âs and my knees donât quite behave as they used to! Whilst we were there one of the legs on the other sofa broke. This was on top of a few other things we called maintenance about. They resolved everything in the afternoon we were out including getting a new sofa (with legs!). This was outstanding by the maintenance team but my counter argument would be if this could be solved so quickly reactively, why has the other sofa not been addressed in 4 months? Itâs a smaller lodge but itâs really cute and it would not take a great deal to make a 3 into a 5 as it has a brilliant location on a fabulous site. The hot tub is well maintained although it is quite noisy through the night. Limefitt is a gorgeous park which is quiet but quite beautiful. The on site Pub was great and there are lots of walks to be had from your lodge. We would definitely go to the park again as it really is so lovely. However, as cute as Robin View Lodge is we would question returning to stay there.

Although we had a very enjoyable stay, there were several things that we feel were not up to Sykes's standards;- 1- There were quite a few light bulbs not working in every room, upstairs, downstairs and outside.
the outside light over the door worked but was useless for shedding light on the door lock. 2- A dirty towel had been left in the linen bin in the pink bedroom. 3- The sink in the pink bedroom had been leaking for some time and had a bowl of stagnant dirty water underneath it which had not been emptied for a long time. 4- Some cupboards and doors do not close properly. 5- the freezer could do with defrosting. 6- The grey toilet in the bathroom above the kitchen does not always flush away waste properly - it took between 1 and 10 flushes to move it. Seems to be the pan design does not circulate the water effectively. This is unhygenic and unacceptable. We left a note for the cleaners detailing the above things. The cottage itself is in a very quiet location, is laid out very well and is very convenient for driving to local towns and castles. There are quite a few pubs / restaurants within a 15 to 20 minute drive ranging from cheap to relatively expensive and all dog friendly. As mentioned initially, we still had a wonderful time. It was a pity that several things, that a couple of days maintenance would sort out, tarnished a very good break.
